Sudden loss of sound in Windows 7. "No Audio Output Device is Installed" Help requested.
Howdy, Before I say anything, let it be known this is not a "new to Windows 7 compatibility problem." I have had Windows 7 working for about 2 months now, and then all of the sudden this problem occurred. I can't quite remember exactly what I was doing when it happened, but I was not messing with anything driver related, or even sound related for that matter. I have lost all sound on my desktop computer. It is a custom built computer: Asus P5N-E SLI Motherboard Onboard Audio Windows 7 Professional x86 (Clean install, not upgrade) In the bottom right of the task bar, the volume icon is located, with a red x on it. When I hover on it it says: "No Audio Output Device is Installed." In the device manager, everything located under sounds and audio devices has the yellow "!" sign by it, this includes: High Definition Audio Device Microsoft Trusted Audio Drivers Microsoft Streaming Clock Proxy Microsoft Streaming Quality Manager Proxy Microsoft Streaming Service Proxy Microsoft Streaming Tee/Sink-to-Sink Converter Microsoft Streaming Tee/Sink-to-Sink Converter Under sound in the control panel, it says: "No audio devices are installed" under the playback tab and recording tab, even after enabling the display of disabled and disconnected devices. WHAT I HAVE TRIED TO FIX THE PROBLEM Malwarebytes gave me a clean scan, same with Spybot and Security Essentials. Running Windows troubleshooter says there is a problem with the High Definition Audio Device, and that reinstalling it might fix the problem. If I apply the fix from the troubleshooter, it fails to install the High Definition Audio Device driver. If I manually uninstall or reinstall from the devices manager, it says it is reinstalling Audio Device on High Definition Audio Bus, then fails to install as well. Simply disabling and reinabling does not work either. Nor does uninstalling driver, rebooting, and having windows install from there. Installing audio driver from ASUS or Realtek also fails. It seems to have no effect. (Even in compatibility mode) EDIT: I have now checked to make sure HD Audio is enabled in BIOS, it is. EDIT: I have tried to OEM Disc driver, that does not work either. EDIT: I have also tried a system restore, still no success. I think thats all I have tried, but I'm probably leaving things out. I don't think of myself as a technical noob, but I don't really know what else to do in this situation. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks, Tim Hawkins

Howdy, I tried installing the driver you gave me in a few different ways, and none of them worked. I have tried to OEM Disc driver, that does not work either. I have also tried a system restore, still no success. Malwarebytes gave me a clean scan, same with Spybot and Security Essentials. Thanks again for your help, Tim Hawkins
